Season 1 was premiered on 10-6-2000 and the opening episode from series was entitled ‘Pilot’. First season of this long running crime series was inaugurated with a change in the Las Vegas crime lab unit, with overnight-shift supervisor Gil Grissom (William L. Petersen) appointed head of the unit after former skipper, Capt. Jim Brass, made a misfired decision that brought about the death of rookie “criminalist” Holly Gribbs. A new team member from San Francisco is brought in to investigate the death of Holly Gribbs. It results in some frictions between Gil Grissom and his second-in-command Catherine Willows. Season finale was entitled ‘The Strip Strangler’ and was aired on 5-17-2001.

Warrick, Nick and Grissom are dealing with the case of a jogger who is killed by a wild animal in the park. Investigations reveal that his liver was removed after his death so situation gets very complicated. On the other hand, Sara and Catherine are investigating the murder of a six year old girl.
