Marg Helgenberger was born on 16 November 1958 in Fremont, Nebraska, US. She is the daughter of Kay, a nurse, and Hugh Helgenberger, a meat inspector. She has an Irish and German decency. As a teenager, she worked as a ‘boner’ at the meat packing plant during her summer and charismas breaks. Her father was an employee of the same plant in which she worked. She attended the North Bend Central High School, Kearney State College and School of Speech of Northwestern University, from where she earned a B.S. degree in speech and drama.
She has a son from her ex-husband Alan Rosenberg. They announced their separation on 1 December 2008 and she filed for divorce on 25 March 2009. She has involved herself in the fight against breast cancer, as her mother suffered from the disease for 27 years. She is accompanied by Rosenberg, and they both host a benefit, called Marg and Alan’s Celebrity Weekend, since 1997 at Omaha, Nebraska.
She played “Blanche Dubois” in a university production of ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’. She planned to make her career in acting, after this. When she performed for the NU campus production of ‘Taming of The Shrew’, she came in the eyes of a scout for ‘Ryan’s Hope’, a soap opera. She earned a role in this soap opera soon after the completion of her college.
After this, she appeared on television for ‘Matlock’, ‘Thirtysomething‘, ‘Shell Game‘, ‘China Beach‘ and ‘CSI’.
